No matter how much we love our work, reconnecting with our loved ones at the end of the day is not always easy and when you add a commute or a journey with traffic you can enter into the home environment and unknowingly bring that toxic energy with you. Not to mention the inability for so many of us to ‘be in the moment’.
We are not here to be perfect but we are supposed to allow ourselves the space to be human and that means being kind to both ourselves and those that we love.
I am always incredibly grateful to be able to do the school run, facilitate homework ( I am not a helicopter parent and I do believe they have to learn to learn themselves) and be able to make all the matches they play in, but this does mean my desk is always within eye sight and I have a habit of working every day. In part because I love what I do and in part because I am highly driven and motivated. I accept that in myself and I trust that when we look back in years to come we will have lived well too but I have also learnt to practice what I preach and last year did a Mindfulness diploma so I can assist myself with walking the walk.
They say we should work to live not live to work but in truth when we are really in alignment with ourselves we love to work and we love to live because we train ourselves to be in the now. Are you getting the balance and are you able to switch of and be present with those that you love.
