This week the NHS is celebrating 70 years of existence and without a doubt there have been highs and lows during this time. It is a critical service to so many and yet so many also take for granted and have lost sight of self-responsibility. Whilst I am a huge fan of its emergency care, my personal experiences and there have been plenty 😏, have not always been good …. from a broken arm that spent 6 weeks in traction that they then had to break again and put a pin in when I was 8, to my appendix being taken out for IBS, to a really traumatic birth termination being made into a 5 day ‘debarkle’…..these days I choose functional medicine and I am forever grateful I stumbled across it some 17 years ago … there are if course for every one horror story, there are 10 amazing ones and the NHS continues to fight a battle nobody seems to be winning. Our bodies and our story’s are all unique so there will never be one size fits all so it is almost impossible to get it right every time. Functional medicine is however allowing us all to have our health in our own hands.
My perception of wellbeing has shifted massively in 17 years, I no longer display symptoms of IBS, asthma, eczema, arthritis or anxiety…I work hard to stay in balance and I do not take my health for granted …I am indeed incredibly lucky.
Our perception and our beliefs are critical to a regulated central nervous system, how you get to the point of self-alignment is unique to you but always be willing to question what you are told until it feels right to you …because when you do, your gut and brain will align and you will create a lifestyle you never need to escape from again and as a bonus you will know yourself from the inside out so well you will always be one step ahead of the game of staying well for longer.
