I’ve had a week without my youngest in the house he has been in France, in exchange the elder two have both been at home, I think it is the first time in nearly 5 years it’s been that way round and it was slightly strange but in a good way. I was reminded of how things have change since my eldest started boarding school nearly 7 years ago and what a different person I am since that day I dropped her off. I remember it as if was yesterday and I am thankful for the person I have become and very aware that whilst I have done the work they have taught me most of what I needed to learn. Our children are our greatest teachers if we are open minded enough to listen and hear, and when we do, not only do we give them roots and wings but they also enable us to become the best version of ourselves. I once read becoming a parent is one of the most difficult jobs there is, but it is also the greatest opportunity to find out exactly who you are. Often we have no idea what we are doing but heart and soul generally guides us well especially when we trust that we are doing the best we can in every moment ….and when we know better we can choose to do better. There are no guarantees as to how they will choose to react or respond to life, but when they have strong roots and wings they will find their way because trust is always more powerful than fear when you allow fear to guide you not control you. It is chemical and it is about knowing who you really are and your perception of the world in every moment…. it begins with the central nervous system.
May you learn and grow as much as they do and may you also know the more in alignment with you you are, the greatest chance you are giving them to be shamelessly wholehearted as well.
