I have always been lucky in that throughout my life I have had people around me to inspire me, the only problem was that in the past instead of using them to inspire me I used them to make me feel ‘unworthy and not good enough. It was absolutely not their fault simply that I interpreted them in my life as examples of how I got it wrong and they got it right. From running half marathons with Olympic athletes and thinking I was rubbish because I was not as fast as them, to having people with start up business that were plastered all over the press within 12 months whilst I was still ‘working’ out what my niche was. I have learnt that lesson now and I am constantly inspired by things every day. Just yesterday a juice bar inquired about stocking our oral vitamin sprays – now if that is not a sign our sprays are about to explode I don’t know what is !
Funny thing is with both of my missed opportunity examples my lessons where better than they were intended to be simply because I didn’t listen the first time and I as I reflect back as long as 15 years later I know I am happier for it and possibly further forward anyhow. So they were not wasted inspirations afterall !
Inspiration is all around us and it is up to us how we choose to use it and it sometimes comes in the most un-expected ways so watch out for a dead end not being a dead end after all, and never doubt there will be something to learn from everything. Expect inspiration to come in everything you do and when you cannot see the inspiration at first trust, that when the penny drops the inspiration will be just as powerful when you are ready to notice it. Just one word of advice, you are human so you may be just might be a little bit annoyed you could have got there a bit earlier, but trust me it will have been worth the wait !
